Ian Paterson
Managing Director
Ian is British Expatriate raised in Tanzania and Malawi with 25 years’ experience in resource production. Ian has vast experience in forestry and agribusiness across Sub-Saharan Africa, specialising in commercial feasibility studies, logistics and project management with large teams. Before joining ETC in 2012 he spent 17 years in Ghana.
Alex Kubasu
Chief Finance Officer
Alex joined ETC in 2017 and currently leads the financial and investment operations across all group companies. He also oversees the group’s strategic logistics and overall administrative functions. He holds both a Master in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in International Business Administration, majoring in Finance, from the United States International University, Africa.
Christo Burnett
Workshop Manager
Christo has 39 years experience in mechanical work in Botswana, Swaziland and Mozambique. Christo joined ETC in 2014 and leads the workshop team, maintaining and servicing all machinery and electrical works in the plantations.
Hanan Maniwa
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer
Hanan joined the company in 2014, beginning her career as an office assistant and clerk. In her current role, Hanan leads on-the-ground HSE activities, ensuring that safety protocols are followed, incidents are reported and addressed, and workers are supported in maintaining a safe working environment. She works closely with the Maris Group HSE Manager, with whom she coordinates to align ETC’s practices with broader organisational policies and international best standards.

Wiseman Zengeya
Forestry Manager
Wiseman joined ETC in 2024, where he oversees teak nursery operations, forest establishment, tending, harvesting, and forest planning activities. He also maintains the plantation database (Microforestry). Wiseman holds a Diploma in Forestry from Zimbabwe College of Forestry and has over 15 years of experience in forestry operations across Africa.
Michael Ongeto
Finance and Operations Manager
Michael joined ETC in 2024. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Sociology from Kenyatta University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He is responsible for payroll administration for both local and expatriate staff, in addition to managing the company’s human capital functions. Michael brings over a decade of experience in the financial sector, having worked in the industry since 2011.
Angelo Edward
Extension Manager and Community Liaison Officer
Angelo is one of the longest-serving members of the company, having been with ETC since its establishment. He currently serves as the Extension Manager and Community Liaison Officer, overseeing the company’s extension services and engagement with local communities. Renowned for his strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, Angelo has been an invaluable asset in fostering positive relationships between the company, the community, and the government.
Jackson Mateng`e
Coffee Expert
Jackson Mateng'e is an expert in the coffee industry. He joined ETC in 2021 to oversee the company's coffee plantations and direct the coffee extension activities with outgrowers. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture from Nairobi University and a Diploma in Coffee Estate Management. He has over 30 years of experience in coffee management in various African countries.
